Vuarnet launches a Made in France capsule collection

Published
May 31, 2022

Vuarnet has launched "Vêtements Alpins Made in France" (Alpine Clothing Made In France), the first capsule fashion collection from the French eyewear specialist  in several decades.

The move comes four months after Vuarnet’s creative director Boramy Viguier relaunched Vuarnet into fashion with  an active-sport-meets-winter-clubbing array of boilersuits, ski jackets and race pants.  Viguier also designed these latest clothes, as Vuarnet deepens its embrace of its alpine roots of the 1960s -  solid craftsmanship meets the warm art of living of the French mountains.

“Suppliers have been selected with particular attention according to their traditional weaving or knitting techniques to obtain top-of-the-range models,” stressed Vuarnet in a release.

The knits are knitted in a factory in Riorges recognized for its know-how in the field for more than 50 years. Other cotton pieces are made in Confection du Boischaut Nord, a 77-year-old high-end Loire Valley factory specializing in the manufacture of shirts. To ensure the best quality, all fabric is woven and dyed in France, the house added.

Priced at between 195 and 620 euros, the unisex collection includes a selection of over-shirts, knits and parkas; made with active sport silhouettes and finished with embroidered Vuarnet 1957 patches or 'V on Ski' logos. After the initial launch, various items will be dropped each fortnight this spring and summer.

Made of 100% organic cotton produced by artisans, the collection will be presented exclusively on the Vuarnet.com online store, in the Parisian store at 28, Rue Boissy d'Anglas, 75008 Paris and in the New York store at 39 Spring St, New York, NY.

An iconic French eyewear and mountaineering brand, Vuarnet was founded by Jean Vuarnet and optician Roger Pouilloux in 1957. Vuarnet, a legendary French skier, won the Olympic downhill gold medal in Squaw Valley, California, in 1960.
