Voucher code use increases in the UK
Mar 12, 2015
Online UK voucher code site Voucherbox has revealed the results of a survey of 1,000 consumers into the use of voucher codes. It revealed that the total use of voucher codes in the UK rose by 43% in the past year.
The number of people who "frequently" seek out discounts when shopping online was up from 23% in 2014 to 33% in 2015, and the number of people who always use a voucher code rose by 70% to 17% of all consumers. The number of consumers who have never used an online code fell by 15% to just over 35%. Less than a tenth, 8%, of those surveyed didn't know what a voucher code was, down from 10% in 2014.
"The research shows a large increase in demand for voucher codes as families look for bargains," said Shane Forster, UK Country Manager at Voucherbox. "Shoppers are continuing to demand more for their money from retailers and as more people require discounts to make a purchase, this will lead to healthy competition, which can only be good for UK consumers."
Voucher codes were most popular among young people, with the usage almost doubling since last year - up from 32% to 63% among consumers aged 18-24. For people aged 25-34, voucher code usage rose from 40% last year to 68%.
