Uniqlo's new treat: a capsule collection by Olympia Le-Tan

Published
Dec 16, 2015

After Inès de la Fressange and lingerie label Princesse Tam Tam, Uniqlo treats itself to a select new collaboration for Spring-Summer 2016. The Japanese giant will unveil a capsule collection by Olympia-Le-Tan.

Uniqlo x Olympia-Le-Tan. - Uniqlo

The designer, who raised €1 million with investment firm Audacia last June, conceived for Uniqlo a collection consisting of about ten models, chiefly tops (t-shirts, tank tops, etc.), tote bags and clutch bags, some of them featured in a choice of colours.

On the design side, the styles are glitzy and very directional (as in cropped tops, for example), with many items featuring embroidered details.

Besides the fashion interest, the collaboration, which fits with Uniqlo's social responsibility programme, enjoys also a humanitarian dimension.

For the totes bags' embroidery, Uniqlo sought out female refugees. The initiative is thus in part devoted to highlight the women's expertise, and in part it endeavours to lift their spirits.

The Uniqlo x Olympia Le-Tan collection will be available next spring in 17 countries, among them France, Belgium, Russia, Japan, South Korea, the UK and Germany.
