The North Face teams up with artist XX Kaws

The North Face is teaming up with legendary Brooklyn-based artist XX Kaws on the launch of an exclusive collection, dropping February 17.

Dubbed 'The North Face XX Kaws', the collection includes timeless North Face pieces updated with an array of unique prints and designs that play on the themes of perception and visibility. Items in the collection range from iconic jackets to soft accessories, luggage, and a variety of men’s, women’s, and youth styles. 

In particular, it’s the North Face Freeride collection, a high-performance layers and outerwear line designed for the snow, that was reimagined with Kaws prints bringing style and performance to the mountain. The collaboration also features The North Face Icons of Exploration collection, including the 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket. 
 
“I’ve always admired The North Face iconic silhouettes – I have had them in my winter rotation for years,” said Kaws. “The blocking, stitching, and details on their coats really lent themselves to the way I structure a painting, so I treated the garments in our collaborative collection like a blank canvas. And I enjoyed exploring their extensive colour and material archive as I would a new paint set.” 
 
Kaws is well-known for taking traditional concepts in painting, sculpture, and design to the next level, both physically and virtually. Likewise, his design aesthetic is unmistakable as it seamlessly connects a variety of creative disciplines.

The North Face is starting the year with multiple collaborations. Most recently, it also launched a second collection with Gucci featuring over 130 pieces. 

The XX Kaws collection will be available at The North Face stores, select dealers, and on www.thenorthface.com next month.
