Ports 1961 names Milan Vukmirovic creative director for menswear

Published
Jul 25, 2014

Ports 1961 has hired Milan Vukmirovic. The Chinese-Canadian luxury ready-to-wear brand, owned by Ports Design Ltd., is focusing on its menswear line launched in 2011 in naming, for the first time, an external designer as its creative director.

Fiona Cibani, the brand’s overall creative director, will hand over the reins to Milan Vukmirovic French for everything concerning menswear, the company announced in a statement.

Milan Vukmirovic

Art director of the multibrand concept store Colette in 1997, the multi-talented designer (he is also a photographer, journalist and buyer) worked for Gucci alongside Tom Ford, before becoming creative director of Jil Sander, then of Trussardi.

In 2009, the multifaceted designer founded the concept store The Webster in Miami with partners, and more recently the magazine Fashion for Men, of which he is the editor. He has also collaborated with Chevignon for a capsule collection.

With this new appointment, Vukmirovic returns to the catwalks of Milan, where Ports 1961 presents. The Frenchman had left the capital of Lombardy in 2011 after five years spent as creative director of Trussardi.
