Neiman Marcus Group names new chief legal officer

Dallas, Texas-based department store operator Neiman Marcus Group (NMG) announced on Thursday that it has appointed Hannah Kim as chief legal officer, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer, effective July 26, 2021.  
 

In her new role, Kim will be responsible for overseeing legal and compliance at NMG in order to ensure that the retailer’s overall business strategy is protected. She will also become a member of the company’s executive team.
 
Kim has strong experience in leading organizations through compliance, acquisitions, reorganizations and leadership transitions. She has also worked with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, an area of particular interest to NMG as it prepares to reveal its own three-year ESG strategy later this year.

Most recently, she served as chief legal officer at Energizer Holdings, Inc., a role which she held for three years and which saw her take charge of legal, compliance, ethics, regulatory and government affairs at the company.
 
Prior to this, she served in senior roles at Bank of America and Lowe’s Companies, Inc., having begun her law career at Parker Poe Adams & Berstein and Alston & Bird. Kim, who is also a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, received her bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee.

She brings extensive corporate law experience from leading brands and will help us accelerate our journey.”
 
Kim’s appointment is the latest in a string of strategic hires being made by NMG as it tries to get back on its feet following its emergence from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September of last year.
 
Over the last few months, the company has appointed Bob Kupbens as EVP and chief product and technology officer and has also brought in new leaders for its namesake Neiman Marcus brand. Paolo Riva, for example, now holds the role of SVP and general manager for brand partnerships and merchandising, while Lisa Aiken was named SVP and fashion and lifestyle director for the department store chain in June.
