Trade show Munich Fabric Start is set to run from August 30 to September 1 in Munich, Germany. The event will welcome around 1,000 manufacturers from 40 countries and will feature a new segment ‘The Source’ for ‘all-in-one’ supply. This edition, the trade show is divided into eight segments including the ‘Bluezone’ dedicated to denim as well as new segment ‘The Source’.

Located in a 2,500-square-metre space, the segment brings together 65 businesses which specialise in high-end ‘all-in-one’ supply solutions. Manufacturers from Portugal, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, Bosnia, and Vietnam also feature in this new segment.

“End-to-end solutions for brands, labels, and retailers are a strong growth segment,” said Munich Fabric Start director, Sebastian Klinder. “What we offer at The Source is a very high quality, long-term environment which is in close partnership with our exhibitors. We value a segment which, in numerous environs, is treated in a rather demeaning way. We deliberately do things differently- in an exceptional architectural location, with a very high quality exhibition stand system, and a select choice of international exhibitors.”

The Source is joined by seven other event areas: ‘Fabrics’, an area dedicated to materials suppliers; the ‘Keyhouse’ innovation hub; the ‘Design Studios’ area dedicated to textile design; and ‘Additionals’ for accessories and finishings for products. The trade show also has a ‘Resource’ segment which focuses on sustainable innovation in terms of materials and ‘Sustainable Innovation’, which is dedicated to the young designers at the forefront of the industry’s transformation.

The Bluezone denim space, which opens from August 30 to 31, hosts around 100 specialised manufacturers, weavers, and finishers. Notable participating businesses include The Lycra Company, Calik Denim, Denim Authority, Advance Denim, French business Velcorex, Berto, and Prosperity.

The event also includes three days of themed conferences. In addition to a trend update for the autumn/winter 2023/ 2024 season with Peclers Paris and Pantone, the event will include round tables on the future of denim, the potential of the metaverse, creativity in the world of prints, traceability in the sector, the possibilities recycling materials offers, and the duty to vigilance of buyers vis-à-vis suppliers.

Around 20,000 visitors are expected over the course of this edition of Munich Fabric Start. The trade show had previously had to cancel its edition which was scheduled for January 25 to 26 due to a resurgence of the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Germany at the time.
