Matalan loyalty scheme gets a major revamp

With price and value set to be a major focus in the months ahead for careful consumers, loyalty schemes are becoming even more important for retailers.

Hot on the heels of health & beauty retailer Boots expanding its own scheme this week online and in-store, discount fashion and lifestyle retailer Matalan has also relaunched its customer rewards programme under the banner ‘Matalan Me’, following detailed customer/market research. 
 
The retailer said it also revamped its online offer, improving the customer experience with more personalised benefits that can be accessed via its app and digital reward card. 

Customers signing up to the new programme get exclusive discounts and rewards, birthday gifts and early access to the ‘Matalan Sale’. They will also have the chance to win their entire shopping basket for free, every time they shop either in-store or online. 
 
The loyalty scheme has been running for over 30 years and claims around 8 million subscribers. 
 
Nicola Travis, head of CRM at Matalan, said: “Matalan Me is a key part of our forward-looking customer strategy, and we’re monitoring the launch now to enable us to develop the scheme further to ensure we continue to drive customer participation and loyalty.”
