Kingpins sees successful New York show

Published

Denim tradeshow organizer Kingpins has released the numbers from its May 11-12 Kingpins New York fall/winter 2017 show.

The show was held at Pier 36/Basketball City and featured exhibitors from 70 resources. They included Cone Denim, Candiani Denim, Prosperity Textile, Orta, Blue Farm Textile and Calik Denim. The New York edition of the show also had two new sections, Fiber and Japanese, which together added 14 new, specialized offerings to the show.

The organizer said Kingpins New York saw "brisk and consistent traffic," with more than 800 denim buyers, designers and media from more than 300 companies shopping the show. Kingpins New York changed from a January/July calendar to a November/May calendar in 2015.

"We are really pleased by the evolution of the show and the response we received from attendees and exhibitors alike," said Andrew Olah, founder of Kingpins Show. "With every show we look for ways to add value and anticipate the needs of our attendees and exhibitors in big and small ways. This season, with the addition of the Japanese Section, we were able to offer small Japanese mills a platform for reaching our attendees. The flip side of that is that our designers were able to shop an edited selection of small and specialized Japanese mills that generally don't exhibit at US trade shows. The Fiber Section gave innovators such as Celliant, Dyneema and Supima access to designers in a way that allowed them to communicate their stories in an intimate and casual way that is in keeping with our Kingpins DNA but very different from what they experience elsewhere."

Kingpins recently announced that it's expanding in the US, with a new Miami tradeshow set to launch in January 2017, which will target the Latin American denim market.
