Fear of God partners with Birkenstock on new sandal

Jerry Lorenzo, the founder and creative director of the Los Angeles-based fashion label, Fear of God, has just unveiled a brand new sandal model resulting from its first collaboration with the German shoe brand, Birkenstock.

Designed by Fear of God and manufactured in Germany by Birkenstock, the new sandal named 'Los Feliz' is "inspired by the unique hillside enclave of its Los Angeles neighborhood namesake and built with the elevated fluidity that defines Fear of God's design language, yet it remains the purity and beauty of Birkenstock's iconic silhouettes", said the brand. 

"We're always attempting to create a product that's rooted in function and necessity, that is preceded by a clear aesthetic point of view,” explained Lorenzo.

Specific design cues include a deep heel cup, raw edge outsole, as well as an exaggerated, monolithic strap closure that accentuates the shoe’s minimal look and feel. Offered in two premium uppers—calf suede and wool felt—the Los Feliz wraps Birkenstock’s signature cork-latex footbed in tonal suede.
 

The higher profile and translucent rubber sole is a nod to Fear of God’s signature footwear, as well as Birkenstock’s renowned functionality and durability.
 
The Los Feliz for adults in suede taupe, cement and ash, and kids in suede taupe, and will be available at Fear of God's e-shop on January 25.

Accustomed to collaborations with many brands, from Dior to Stüssy through Beams, Rick Owens and Valentino, Birkenstock's teaming up with with Fear of God is its first collaborative model in its kids category.
