Amsterdam-based platform for fashion innovation, Fashion for Good, announced today that it has welcomed British luxury label Stella McCartney as its new partner.

The partnership between the innovation platform and luxury label will officially kick off during the exhibition at the Fashion for Good Experience, an interactive technology-driven museum that opens on 5 October in Amsterdam. The museum will exhibit a dress designed by Stella McCartney and dyed by Colorifix, using engineered microorganisms.

Colorifix is a start-up that participated in the second edition of the Fashion for Good-Plug and Play Accelerator Programme. The company’s dying method reduces the environmental impact of the dying process.

The dress is made from organic cotton and was inspired by the Stella McCartney Summer 2018 collection. A similar dress, also created in collaboration with Colorifix, has been on view at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum as part of the museum’s ‘Fashioned from Nature’ exhibition.

Fashion for Good said that the partnership with Stella McCartney demonstrates the commitment of both partners’ shared commitment to industry-wide collaboration and to integrating disruptive innovations within the fashion supply chain. Furthermore, the addition of Stella McCartney to its network means that Fashion for Good gains a committed corporate partner and inspiring leader in the apparel industry.

Stella McCartney commented in a press release: “We are constantly exploring innovative ways to become more sustainable [and] joining Fashion for Good helps us on this journey. Together we can spark and scale the next generation of circular technologies and help change the fashion industry!”

Fashion for Good aims to make the entire apparel industry more sustainable and brings together brands, producers, retailers, suppliers, non-profit organizations, innovators and funders in their quest to do so. The company was founded in 2017 by the C&A foundation.

Luxury lifestyle label Stella McCartney is committed to ethical values and maintains that it is responsible for the resources it uses and the impact it has on the environment. It is therefore constantly exploring innovative ways to become more sustainable, from designing to store practices and product manufacturing. The label launched under the designer’s name in 2001 and is under a 50/50 partnership with Kering until 2019.
