Facing the second wave, trade show Ispo will go fully online in February 2021

Sports industry trade show Ispo was originally scheduled to take place from February 1 to 5, 2021, following a hybrid format but it will now take place exclusively online. After consulting with professionals and taking the current progression of the coronavirus pandemic into account, the trade show’s organiser Messe München has decided to opt for a 100% digital edition, bypassing a physical edition in Munich.

According to the organisers, the current trajectory of the pandemic does not allow for them to safely organise a hybrid event in 2021.

“With Ispo Munich Online, our customers all around the world will be able to participate in the event and we will be able to experiment with new formats to attract new target groups,” said Klaus Dittrich, chairman of Messe München’s Board of Directors. “I am certain that our digital event in February will enable all professionals in the sector to have in-depth engagements.”

The upcoming edition of the trade show will be based on feedback from the ‘Re.Start Days’ event in June 2020. In February, the organisers’ new offer will also include a number of new features to showcase brands and products and to strengthen links between commercial partners. In addition, round tables and conferences will be broadcast live, direct from virtual ‘chatrooms’.

Jeanette Friedrich, group director of Global Ispo, remains optimistic. “The Ispo trade show has acquired substantial expertise in the digital field in the past ten years,” said Friedrich. “We are utilising our skills and our reach to offer all participants a really interesting online event.”
