Estée Lauder appoints new leaders for international, EMEA

Published
Oct 29, 2021

Following the recent announcement of international group president Cedric Prouvé’s departure, slated for June 2022, The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has revealed that it is promoting Peter Jueptner and Nadine Graf to key global leadership roles.

After more than 12 years at the cosmetics group, Jueptner, who currently serves as president for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), will be succeeding Prouvé as president, international, effective February 1, 2022.

In his new role, the executive will be responsible for overseeing ELC’s global network of region presidents and affiliate general managers, which is spread over more than 150 countries and territories. He will also be tasked with driving the strategic growth of the company’s international business, which will involve overseeing innovation pipelines and managing strategic third-party relationships with retailers and commercial partners.

Jueptner will be based in New York and will report to ELC president and CEO Fabrizio Freda. He will join the group’s executive leadership team alignment and will also remain a member of its executive leadership team.

Since becoming EMEA president in 2016, Jueptner has helped transform ELC’s operations in the region, establishing the regional online team and strengthening EMEA’s emerging market portfolio, which is now the company’s fastest-growing set of emerging markets outside of China.

Prior to this, the executive served as EVP for strategy, new business development and transformation initiatives at ELC. Before joining the company in 2009, Jueptner spent three years as SVP for strategy and M&A at Philip Morris, following stints at The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co., Campbell Soup Company, and The Boston Consulting Group.

Currently VP and general manager for EMEA markets, Graf will be succeeding Jueptner as the region’s leader, stepping into the role of SVP and general manager for EMEA. She will be based in Paris and will report to Jueptner.

In her new position, she will oversee the strategy, commercial operations and business growth of 17 affiliates in more than 25 countries. She will also be responsible for leading transformation initiatives in the region and will continue to strengthen its emerging markets portfolio.

As VP and GM for EMEA, Graf has worked closely with Jueptner to set the region’s strategic direction and has led its transformation agenda. She also played a key role in the implementation of ELC’s virtual selling strategy in EMEA and developed a new category management approach.

Before transitioning into her current role at ELC, Graf led the Clinique brand in EMEA, orchestrating a critical turnaround for the brand in the region and driving double-digit online growth.

Her previous experience also includes five years at Parfümerie Douglas, where she ultimately served as director of group purchasing for perfume and cosmetics in Europe, and four years at The Nuance Group.

“Peter and Nadine each possess extensive first-hand leadership experiences in our regions and affiliates and deep global expertise across all aspects of prestige beauty, making them uniquely qualified to lead our winning International and EMEA businesses, respectively,” commented Freda in a release.

In the fiscal year ended June 30, 2021, ELC achieved earnings of $2.87 billion on revenues of $16.2 billion.
