Cocoon boosts subscription package

Luxury handbag subscription business Cocoon has launched a new service “in response to growing consumer demand”. Under its new Flexi Membership, subscribers will pay a base fee to tap into the full Cocoon collection and choose to access bags for a week at a time on demand.

Expanding on Cocoon’s three full-time plans (Light, Premium and Deluxe), the Flexi Membership service offers a light-commitment option to customers who want to experience the service.

Flexi Membership plans are priced at £39 for three months and £59 for six months, granting access to the Cocoon bag collection of over 35 designers, ranging from contemporary labels to heritage brands, including Bottega Veneta’s Pouch and Prada’s Cleo Bag, with service fees included. 

Members can purchase 'Bag Passes’ to access one bag for one week at a time, whenever they would like. Members also have the freedom to hold on to their bag on a rolling weekly basis “if they’re not ready to part ways”. Existing full-time members can also purchase Bag Passes on demand, allowing them to access a second bag for one week at a time.

“With this updated membership offer, we look forward to building our community and developing a deeper understanding of the wants and needs of our members. We have ambitious plans for growth, which are guided by our members’ feedback and behaviour, to help us build the ultimate subscription experience,” said Ceanne Fernandes Wong, CEO and co-founder.

The Kering-backed business, which has tapped into the growing demand for hiring goods at the luxury end of the sustainable fashion market, Cocoon said it has “emerged as the first-choice solution for bag lovers. 

“We’ve seen a huge spike in engagement, with members ordering new styles more frequently to suit their upcoming plans”, Fernandes Wong added. “We have also noticed a rise in demand for classic tote bags as we head into autumn, an indication that our customers are thinking about work wardrobes as office life returns”.
