Asos launches Heroes collection to support the NHS

Published
Apr 15, 2020

Online fashion destination Asos has launched a rage of limited-edition unisex ‘Heroes’ T-shirts and hoodies to raise funds for the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Asos

The first drop of the garments, made from 100% organic materials, sold out within days of going on sale.

Coming in a range of sizes from S to XL, the tees were £20 and hoodies £30. Asos said it will match 100% of the profits from every sale to donate to NHS Trust coronavirus charities local to where it operates.

This is one of several initiatives by the fashion company to support the national effort during the health crisis. In addition to the proceeds from the Heroes collection, Asos said it will donate “thousands” of much-needed items such as washable tote bags, so that hospital staff can take a change of clothes with them to work and then wash the bag at the end of the day.

Hand creams and comfortable clothing like joggers, tees and hoodies are also being donated to NHS frontline staff at local hospitals, as well as hundreds of headbands.

NHS workers can also get a 20% discount when shopping with the Blue Light Card on Asos.com.

When the outbreak first emerged in the UK in March, Asos was accused of playing with workers’ health at its Barnsley warehouse. Unlike some other fashion e-tailers, the firm has continued to trade during the lockdown by implementing “strict” social distancing measures inside and outside its fulfilment centres.

“We know this is a really strange time for everyone right now, but we want to continue providing you with a moment of escapism. So, we're doing all we can to keep Asos here for you by following all Government guidance, while it advises online retail to stay open for the good of the economy, to protect jobs and to help people to stay at home,” the brand has said.

The unisex charity collection will see the retailer drop new styles each week for the next four weeks. The styles will be showcased by models who have been photographed at home, to support the government’ Stay Home message.
